This 4-day workshop series is for 11th and 12th graders getting ready to apply to college. To sign up, you must pay the $25 over the phone or in person and staff will register your child. You must be able to attend all four dates: June 11th, 12, 13th, and 14th from 9:30 AM - 11:30 AM.
College applications have two distinct parts to them: Quantitative (GPA, transcript, rigor, test scores) and Qualitative (extracurriculars, essays, statement of interests, recommendations.)
It is the qualitative part and especially the personal statement (aka college essay) that becomes the centerpiece of your application.
When done right, the college essay tells a story that is uniquely yours. It introduces you, humanizes you. In order to write a quality essay, students need to reflect, to dig deep into themselves to find the right story. At Axios Tutoring's College Essay Camps, they help your student through this reflection process. The topic paragraph, which drives the essay, evolves from conversations, and from there students develop body paragraphs that highlight strengths, values, passions, contributions, and a vision for the future. They tell students that, for the most part, there are no wrong topics but how you write about them highlights how you are growing from a teenager to a young adult ready to walk on a college campus.
College Essay Camp is designed to allow for this conversation to take place. They provide the opportunity for students to do their own individual writing, making use of group energy and conversation, while receiving expert feedback throughout the entire writing process.
